If you have spent time arranging your desktop in another tool, you should not have to do it twice. Corral reads a Stardock Fences layout backup and rebuilds it as corrals — the groups, their positions and sizes, folder portals, which icons live in which group, and anything left loose on the desktop.
How to do it
- Install Corral and let it start.
- Open Settings › General.
- Click Import Fences layout.

Corral finds your most recent backup on its own — they live in
%AppData%\Stardock\Fences\Backups\— and shows you what it found before changing anything. - Confirm, and your layout comes across.
What comes across
Your groups
Every group becomes a corral, at the position and size it already had — on the right monitor, in a multi-monitor setup.
What's in them
Which icons belong to which group, and everything that was loose on the desktop stays loose.
Folder portals
A group that mirrored a folder becomes a Corral portal pointed at the same folder.
Titles
Names come across as they were, so you recognise your own desktop.
What doesn't
Styling. Corral's looks are its own — edge styles, header fills, tile shapes, corner radius and transparency have no equivalent to copy from, so imported corrals arrive wearing Corral's defaults and you restyle them however you like. Nothing is lost; it just needs a pass.
Nothing is at risk
Importing reads a backup file. It does not touch your other software, and it does not move a single file on your desktop — Corral never does. If you don't like the result, Corral's own layout snapshots roll it back.
